It seems that a lot of Washington/Hudson Heights was built when the idea of an entry to the building set way back off the street was a good thing. I had never seen buildings built like this in Chelsea, which was built earlier. I think a lot of these buildings were built in the 1940's. By the 1950's when my buiding was built, the trend had passed. In any case, these are some of the doorways of Washington/Hudson Heights. Some have been well kept, others have seen better days...
